Strategic partnership with Rochdale Sixth Form College

Two of the UK’s leading institutions for student progress enter into a formal partnership with a vision of improved education for all

Trinity Multi-Academy Trust and Rochdale Sixth Form College, 2 February 2017: The Trinity Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) and Rochdale Sixth Form College (RSFC) today announced that the two organisations have entered into an official strategic partnership agreement, signalling their joint commitment to enhancing education across all providers within the two organisations and ultimately beyond.

The Trinity Academy MAT is an expanding MAT, and the flagship school within the MAT is Trinity Academy Halifax. Last week Trinity Academy was confirmed as being in the top 4% of schools nationally for its value added score at A-level in the Government’s school league tables. For the fourth year running, RSFC was named as the highest performing dedicated 6th Form College in the UK. The two high-performing, outstanding institutions have held a long-standing collaborative relationship, which has grown in response to rapid developments across the two institutions.

Both are headed by accredited and experienced National Leaders of Education (NLEs), Michael Gosling and Julian Appleyard OBE. The formalisation of the partnership and development of a strategic vision marks an exciting stage in the development of both organisations, and the partnership includes leadership support, collaborative working and translation of proven successful strategies across both organisations.

Michael Gosling, CEO of the Trinity MAT comments: “The results of our partnership working have been seen at all levels across both organisations, such as within Trinity Academy’s 6th Form which is within the top 4% of post-16 providers in the country. Trinity Academy is a model for all schools joining our growing MAT, and seeks to be outstanding within outstanding. The vision of our MAT is to replicate this success for the benefit of young people across all institutions within the trust, and as part of this we work collaboratively to ensure that we can constantly develop and enhance the education provider. Rochdale 6th Form College is a like-minded organisation, and the formalisation of this partnership marks the next step in more children and young people having access to a world-class education and opportunities.”

Julian Appleyard OBE, Principal, Rochdale 6th Form College says: “Collaborative working is key to ensuring a better education for all. We have seen powerful improvements for RSFC’s students as a result of our relationship with the Trinity MAT, and have been pleased to experience how some of our strategies for success have made a difference in areas such as Trinity Academy’s 6th Form. The College has been an accredited National Support School for a number of years and RSFC will be the flagship institution within our MAT – the Altus Education Partnership – which is in the final process of being established. We are excited about the possibilities of this relationship for the schools within our respective institutions, and in the longer-term, those beyond.”
