Trinity Academy Grammar joined the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust in October 2018.  Working closely with outstanding leaders from across the trust, the academy is characterised by its high aspirations and ambitions.  Targeted and effective support systems have been implemented in order to create an environment where our students experience an outstanding education with no limit to what they can achieve. 

Our GCSE results over the last two years have validated the work we have already undertaken in the academy and the results our students have achieved means the academy can now be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country.  However, we are determined not to rest on our laurels and are always looking for ways to better serve our students. 

All these fantastic and exciting initiatives require the expertise and commitment of dedicated staff and Trinity Academy Grammar now wishes to appoint a Teaching Assistant for Autism.  As a Teaching Assistant for Autism you will work closely with individuals and support teaching staff to meet the needs of all students and in particular, students with autism to enable students to progress. 

At Trinity Academy Grammar we are lucky to have a resourced provision (The Hub) funded by the local authority which currently has a capacity for 10 places.  Students in the provision have access to learning in both the mainstream classroom and the Autism Hub.  Our model encourages independence at every opportunity.  Consequently, if a student is part of the provision they may also benefit from accessing lessons in both The Hub and mainstream classrooms, depending on their bespoke timetable.  As Teaching Assistant for Autism, you will be tasked with ensuring these children get the same educational offer as their peers across the Academy.  We have ambitious aspirations for all students here at Trinity Academy grammar and believe that no child should be left behind. 

Knowledge or experience of working in an educational setting is desirable but not essential; we believe in getting the right people into our organisation.  Training specific to an educational setting can be provided as required; our support staff receive weekly professional development as part of the job. 

This would make an ideal position for anyone that is considering teaching as a career and wanting to gain some experience before starting their training; potentially within one of the schools within our multi academy trust.  As part of the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust we have close links to the Trinity Institure of Education, which provides numerous routes into the profession. 

What we need: 

  • Good numeracy and literacy 
  • Ability to relate well to children and young people 
  • Experience of working with, or caring for children or young people of a relevant age 
  • Knowledge or experience of autism which can be transferred to daily practice
