SEND & Inclusion

Every child belongs. Every child can achieve.

An inclusion first approach

Inclusion isn’t separate from excellent education. It’s fundamental to it.

Across Trinity, our starting point is the same for every child: understand them, support them and never limit what we believe they can achieve.

For parents of a child with SEND, that means being listened to, working in partnership and knowing that your child’s strengths, interests and aspirations will be at the heart of every conversation.

We know that every child is different, so we take time to understand what helps them learn, participate and succeed.

SEND leaders, teachers and colleagues work together, exchanging ideas, developing effective practice and learning from one another so that support continues to grow stronger across the Trust. No school works in isolation; when one school develops a successful approach, others benefit too.

Inclusion is about removing barriers and creating the right conditions for children and young people to flourish. Whether that means adapting the way we teach, providing specialist support, developing independence or helping a child build confidence, our aim is always the same.

We want to help every child to have the right support at the right time, enabling them to engage fully in school life and ultimately achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Trinity Academy Carlton Mill

Trinity Academy Carlton Mill began as a provision supporting Trinity students at risk of permanent exclusion. That work is strengthened by the Calderdale Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce, based at Carlton Mill and bringing together specialist expertise around individual young people.

Recently it was shortlisted for the SEND Excellence Award, recognising its child-centred approach to alternative provision and the difference it makes for pupils with additional needs. The team’s impact on local children and families has also been commended by Kate Dearden MP.

Evergreen at Trinity Academy Whitehill

Evergreen reflects the same principle within our primary phase: adapting provision around the needs of individual pupils rather than expecting every child to fit one model.

It provides another example of how Trinity schools create inclusive pathways that help children remain connected to their school community, develop confidence and continue moving forward.

The ARC at Trinity Academy Halifax

The ARC is Trinity Academy Halifax’s internal alternative provision, developed to support students who have become disengaged from learning or are at risk of exclusion.

Established in 2018, it has grown into a range of tailored pathways that provide structure, specialist support and continued teaching while helping young people rebuild confidence and prepare to return successfully to mainstream education. Its purpose is intervention, not separation – providing the right support early enough to keep pupils connected to their school and their future.

Local SEND Offer

Each Local Authority provides a SEND Local Offer, which gives information about the support, services and opportunities available to children and young people with SEND and their families in the local area.  Trinity Multi Academy Trust operates across multiple local authorities.
