Beyond the classroom
Education should be bigger than the timetable
Some of the moments pupils remember most happen beyond lessons.
They are the experiences that help young people discover a new talent, take on a responsibility, visit somewhere new or realise they are capable of more than they imagined.
Across Trinity, we believe these opportunities are not extras. They are part of a great education and something every pupil should have the chance to experience.
That means opportunities for everyone to compete, perform, lead, volunteer, travel, collaborate, learn and contribute. Across our schools, pupils represent their school and the Trust in sport, perform in concerts, productions and cultural events, take part in leadership programmes, support community projects and enjoy educational and careers visits that bring learning to life.
For some pupils, a residential trip is their first experience of real independence. For others, speaking in front of an audience, organising a charity event, volunteering in the community or performing on stage becomes the moment they find their confidence. Whether it’s at one of our dozens of afterschool clubs, or an outdoor adventure, or a cultural visit, we make sure that every child is able to experience new learning beyond the classroom and make lifelong memories.
The impact is often seen in the way pupils return to the classroom: more confident, more resilient and more willing to step forward when opportunities arise. Because at Trinity, enrichment is not for a lucky few. It is an entitlement for every pupil, helping young people grow into curious, capable and confident adults ready to make their mark on the world.
Duke of Edinburgh
Across Trinity, students tackle the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at all levels through expeditions across the local Calder and Worth Valleys. By using the landscape on our doorstep, we keep these transformative experiences affordable, accessible, and grounded in the local community.
The Turing Scheme
Through the Turing Scheme, we’re continuing to create opportunities for pupils to experience other countries, cultures and ways of life.
Students explore the south of France
Forty-seven students from Trinity Academy Halifax and Trinity Academy Cathedral embarked on an unforgettable trip to Toulouse and Carcassonne. Blending culture, history, and language, the trip included touring Concorde at the Aeroscopia Museum, cruising the Canal du Midi, exploring Carcassonne’s medieval walled town, and putting their French into practice every step of the way.
Three primary's adventure in Cantabria, Spain
Year 5 pupils from three of our primary schools joined a Turing Scheme trip to Cantabria to explore Spanish culture, language, and climate studies. Highlights included visiting Santander, riding the Fuente Dé Cable Car, and attending a local Spanish school to practise their language skills in real-world settings.
Trinity IGNITE
Through carefully designed activities and opportunities, Trinity IGNITE encourages pupils to try something different, explore the world around them and develop the character, independence and aspiration that will support them throughout their education and beyond.
