Trinity Academy Cathedral awarded Strong across all graded areas in latest Ofsted inspection
When Ofsted inspectors visited Trinity Academy Cathedral in 2026 under the new Education Inspection Framework, the outcome reflected our sustained commitment to quality education: Strong Standard across every single graded area.
It is an exceptionally high bar. For Trinity Academy Cathedral, this recognition marks ten years of progress and dedication since joining Trinity Multi-Academy Trust. A standard that’s proudly shared at Trinity Sixth Form Academy following its recent inspection.

A culture where ‘everyone is welcome’
An academy can only demand high academic standards when its culture makes children feel safe, seen, and valued. Inspectors felt that ethos the moment they walked through Cathedral’s doors, highlighting their core commitment to ensuring no child is left behind.
“Leaders have established a positive culture where pupils flourish.”
The inspection team noted that “everyone is welcome at Trinity Academy Cathedral”, pointing specifically to our ‘no lost sheep’ approach. Because individual needs are understood early and accurately, our young people feel supported to take pride in their learning and, as inspectors noted, rarely need reminders about their behaviour.

Adapting teaching so every child succeeds
To expect great things from young people, we must first support them in the classroom. Inspectors saw firsthand how our teachers tailor their daily practice so that barrier-free learning becomes a reality, particularly for children with special educational needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“Teachers skilfully modify their approaches to meet the needs of pupils. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who are disadvantaged receive effective support in lessons to reduce their barriers to learning.”
“Leaders place inclusion at the heart of their work. There is a deep commitment to supporting all pupils to thrive.”
When teaching adapts to the child, progress follows. The report highlights that pupil progress at Cathedral has stood consistently above the national average for several years running. A direct outcome of keeping aspirations high for every single young person, regardless of their starting point.
“In recent years, the progress of these pupils has been consistently above the national average. This reflects the high aspirations that leaders and staff have for all pupils.”

Ready for the road ahead
Schooling isn’t just about preparing for exam season; it’s about preparing for life. The ultimate test of any secondary school is whether its young people leave confident, capable, and ready to take their next steps. Inspectors concluded that our students leave us with exactly that. Pupils are equipped with the deep knowledge, practical skills, and character needed to succeed in whatever path they choose next.
“Pupils become confident, resilient and independent as a result of their experiences of school. They leave ready for their next steps with the knowledge and skills that they need to be successful.”

This latest Trinity Academy Cathedral Ofsted report reflects the relentless work of our teachers and support staff, the encouragement of our families and governors, and above all, the determination of our young people.
