Curriculum & Learning

What pupils learn matters. So does how well they learn it.

Every family wants their child to leave school with choices, confidence and a future full of possibility.

Across Trinity, we want every pupil to experience a rich, ambitious curriculum that builds knowledge, develops confidence and keeps future opportunities open.

Background should never determine what a young person can achieve. We help pupils discover their interests, develop their talents and build the knowledge they need to take their next step with confidence.

Collaboration strengthens that work. Subject specialists from across Trinity share expertise, refine curriculum and learn from one another, so strong practice can benefit pupils beyond a single classroom or school.

The impact can be seen in strong outcomes and ambitious destinations – but also in pupils who are curious, confident and ready for what comes next.

Primary

Key Stage 2

At Key Stage 2, two thirds of our pupils meet at least the expected standard in Reading, Writing & Maths – outperforming the national average by 3%. Since 2024, this has also grown by 9%.

Year 1 Phonics

All our schools outperformed the national average for Year 1 Phonics, with 88% of pupils meeting the expected standard – 8% above national average. This has grown by 17% since our 2025 results.

Key Stage 2 – Writing

We are particularly strong in Writing at Key Stage 2, where 82% of the cohort hit at least the expected standard – 9% higher than the national average.

63% of the Trust’s disadvantaged cohort achieved this standard – 5% above the national disadvantaged group.

Early Years

Pupils achieving a ‘good level of development’ by the end of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) is above national average in all our schools – 11% above national across the Trust as a whole.

Approximately four fifths of pupils meet this level of development. This has increased by 12% since 2024.

Secondary

Attainment 8

We achieved an average Attainment 8 score of 50 points in 2026. There has been a significant growth in the Attainment 8 score, increasing by more than 5 points between 2024 and 2026.

Grade 5 or higher in English and Maths

The proportion of students achieving a grade 5 or higher in English and Maths has increased by 11% since 2024  – expected to be 8% above the national average, despite a challenging context.

Grade 4 or higher in English and Maths

The proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or higher in English and Maths – more than 7 in 10 pupils across the Trust achieved this in 2026 – compared to 64% nationally (in 2025). The Trust average increased by 8% between 2024 and 2026.

Our disadvantaged cohort

Our disadvantaged cohort significantly outperforms this group nationally on all of the above measures and in some of the our schools, this group outperforms the non-disadvantaged cohort nationally.

Post-16

In the top 25% nationally

Students at post-16 make significantly more progress than their counterparts nationally. It is likely that the academic value added score will be around +0.1, which would place us in the top 25% of schools and colleges.

The academic APS

The academic APS (average point score) per entry has recorded a significant increase on entry and was 34.3 in 2026 – this equates to midway between a B and a C.

Vocational qualifications

The same is true for the vocational qualifications  – the APS per entry is 34.4 (expected to be around 5 points above national) and value added is also likely to be ‘above average’.

Our disadvantaged cohort

It is expected that the disadvantaged cohort will also have a positive value added score when official data is published, despite national data for this group being significantly negative
